 Machine Operator / Lowell, NC

Position Summary 

Machine Operators – operates Air Jet Spinning frames by creeling Roving stock in frames whose purpose is to stretch and twist fibers together. 

Essential Functions

Position Responsibilities 

Check ID’s before starting shift; do not run without a proper signature on ID. 

Check all machinery and equipment to ensure safe operations before starting machine 

Patrol job consistently repairing ends down and all creel breaks. 

Change bad top rollers and top aprons as needed 

Follow proper procedure for removing laps from top aprons and rollers.  

Clean head, end, rods and rails   

Flag ends that require a fixers attention 

Change wax as needed during cycling 

Turn black boxes every two hours 

Keep doff cradle free of thread 

Keep work area neat and clean 

Machines are to be brushed twice during shift 

Remove pneumafil waste during shift 

Put reworkable fiber in properly identified container 

Keep waste off the floor; use apron. Properly place any waste generated in appropriate container 

Adhere to all safety guidelines as outlined by the Job Safety Analysis for this position 

Perform any duties assigned by supervision 

Essential Skills and Experience  

Standing – 7 1/2 hours concrete floor 

Sitting – Two 20-minute breaks  

Moving – moves about in an area approximately _50’ x 100’, while performing duties, no prolonged standing in single location 

Moving Materials –Creel full roving bobbins weighing between .5 to 3.5 lbs. 

 Moves doff boxes weighing 183 lbs. around frames to creel in roving. 

 Moves empty roving bobbins to storage areas. 

Hearing/Speaking – must be able to communicate with Fixers and Supervisors 

Reaching – 5-51/2’ to creel in frame 

Climbing – Step bar when creeling and repairing breaks 

Visual Acuity –   

Color vision required with minimum near vision to distinguish quality defects 

Must be able to read printed material (forms, ID’s, Specifications) 

Must be able to see Quality and Mechanical problems 

Bending /Stooping – Occasional bending 

Lifting – 4.0 lbs. cones 

Beneficial Skills and Experience  

Prerequisites Mandatory:  Must be able to read job instructions. 

Preferred: H.S. or G.E.D.
